Optimise the video’s title as if it were an article headline - make sure the main keyword appears early in the title
While Google can crawl standalone video content, it is necessary to add textual content for additional help for Google
When creating videos, write few lines (minimum 30 words) of descriptive content that Google can latch onto
Make use of the video’s alt tag (caption) and populate with shortened explanatory content
Ideally full captions or transcripts for the video content would also be available in the HTML of the video page and accessible via User Interface
Where video content is supported by a larger story, Google recognises the textual content and ranks the page accordingly
Is the video’s title optimised as if it were a headline?
Is the main keyword placed early within the title?
Does standalone video content have some textual content within the body?
Is the video’s alt tag (caption) populated with shortened explanatory content?
Does the use of video content support larger stories?
Are there any linking opportunities from other relevant pages on the site to the video page using relevant anchor text?
If no good opportunities for anchor text exist, have you created internal links using Related: [video title] in a contextually relevant place, preferably high up in the article?
